Sea World '09

No trip to San Diego is complete without a few days at Sea World.

The shows were great and everyone loved feeding the bat rays and the sea lions. My kids were hesitant at first to touch the dead slimy fish, but soon became enthusiastic and thought I should buy more.

The first day we were at Sea World, Zach insisted that he needed a pincher thing, which he referred to as a "pooper scooper". I didn't see any reason why he needed it and so we didn't get it. He worked on me enough that by the next day when we went back, the first thing we did was buy a beluga whale "pooper scooper". It is the ugliest thing ever and he loves it. Everywhere we went, he always had to be in the front and would call out, "Follow the pooper scooper" and hold it up high for all to see. It was hilarious.

Fun in the Sand

Everyone had fun playing on the beach. The kids built sand castles and had fun burying each other. They found lots of shells, sand dollars, plenty of sea weed, a few crabs and even a sea anemone.

Boogie Boarding in San Diego

We had a great time in San Diego! This year everyone got into boogie boarding. Last year Julia got a wet suit and her own boogie board. She loved it and couldn't wait for this summer to get back out there. This year we got Josh and Zach wet suits and boogie boards so they could join in on the fun. They both did really well.

Lizzie and Megan gave Zach several lessons and he was able to last for quite a while every day before he had to take a break and convince someone to join him in his real love, which is jumping the waves.

Happy Birthday Josh!

Our baseball loving boy is 9!

Josh had a great birthday. He spent the whole day reminding me it was his birthday.
"Mom can we have chicken sandwitches for lunch? Remember it's my birthday."
"Mom, can I go on the computer? Remember it's my birthday."
"Mom, can we watch a movie? Remember it's my birthday."
Tonight we were sitting on the couch and I told him that at this time 9 years ago we were sitting together on the bed at the hospital. He replied, "I thought you said I was born at 10:30 in the morning? What were you doing still at the hospital that night?" I said, "I know, what a slacker. What was I thinking?"

It was a mostly baseball day. He got to watch the Dodger's vs. the Astros and some of the A's vs. Angel's game. He got baseball figurines of Manny Ramirez and Jose Reyes, about 200 baseball cards, some baseball books, an Angel's shirt and third row tickets to tomorrow's A's vs. Angel's game. It was quite a score. For his party he has elected to take a friend to see the Giant's vs. the Dodgers.

Happy Birthday Josh!

Kindergarten Graduation- June 11, 2009

This was the third Kindergarten graduation Zach had been to at the school and finally it was for him!

Every year they have a Hawaiian themed party and the kids do a performance singing "Each of Us is a Flower" and then dancing to "Wipe Out". It is so cute and also a bit hilarious. Zach was easy to pick out of the crowd since he is a head taller than all the other kids. I tried to make a video, but I was using Julia's flip and was not close enough to make it good.

Zach did his end of year report on tigers. He was so excited he had it all done a week before it was due and signed up to be the first to give his oral report.

He has loved this year in Kindergarten and is so excited for 1st grade.
